RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides technical support of routine operations, project work, major maintenance or construction support, and emergency response to ensure worker safety throughout the planning and execution phases of work.
2. Supports development, maintenance, and execution of safety programs for implementation in the field to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and conformance to MPC corporate standards.
3. Conducts auditing on safety programs to verify compliance and conformance with regulatory and MPC standards. This includes analyzing safety performance data to identify and report trends, along with proposing recommendations to address areas of concern.
4. Leads and supports investigations for near-misses, incidents, and injuries to identify root causes and recommendations to prevent future incidents. Tracks recommendations to implementation to ensure completion.
5. Develops and presents training material related to a variety of safety topics in collaboration with Operations and Learning Development departments.
6. Provides subject matter expertise for assigned programs, which may include providing input as a competent person for fall protection and excavation safety, support during Life Critical work and input on other regulatory programs.
7. Develops safety related communications for inclusion into shift starter meetings, safety meeting, notices, and bulletins.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Professional Level 1 (P1)
• High School diploma or GED required with 2 years of relevant experience or Bachelor’s degree in HES related field with no relevant experience
Professional Level 2 (P2)
• High School diploma or GED required with 4 years of relevant experience or Bachelor’s degree with two (2) or more years of relevant experience
• Working knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements
• Ability to identify issues and work as an independent problem solver
• Capable of managing conflict in the work environment
• Focuses on developing business acumen and technical knowledge
Professional Level 3 (P3)
• High School diploma or GED required with 6 years of relevant experience or Bachelor’s degree with four (4) or more years of relevant experience
• Ability to manage complex projects with limited support
• Mentors less experienced members of the team
• Ability to identify risk and implement mitigations based on knowledge of the business
Professional Level 4 (P4)
• High School diploma or GED required with 12 years of relevant experience or Bachelor’s degree with ten (10) or more years of relevant experience
• Recognized Subject Matter Expert in the field of safety within the Company
• Collaborates enterprise-wide to enhance safety performance
• Collaborates effectively with internal business partners to proactively identify complex risk and implement strategic mitigations
Professional Level 5 (P5)
• High School diploma or GED required with 15 years of relevant experience or Bachelor’s degree with fifteen (15) or more years of experience
• Works autonomously in a dynamic environment within MPC and industry
• Recognized Subject Matter Expert in the field of safety representing MPC in industry
• Collaborates effectively with external industry groups to proactively identify complex industry risk and implement strategic mitigations
