Person In Charge (PIC)
Position Summary

The Person In Charge (PIC) is responsible for overseeing store operations during periods when salaried store leadership is not present. The PIC ensures strong customer service, supervises employees, maintains store standards, and supports front‑end operations to achieve company expectations for service, safety, and productivity.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Customer Service & Store Representation Serve as the primary customer contact during assigned shifts. Ensure friendly, courteous, and prompt service at all times. Address and resolve customer complaints, service issues, and urgent situations. Store Operations Leadership Oversee the store in the absence of the Store Director and Assistant Store Directors. Monitor overall store conditions, including cleanliness, safety, stocking, and presentation standards. Handle emergencies, accidents, and escalated situations involving customers or employees. Ensure company policies and procedures are followed by all associates. Front-End Supervision Lead and direct Front-End operations, including cashier performance and service levels. Assist cashiers with register, scanning, and equipment issues. Perform overrides, voids, refunds, and troubleshooting as needed. Support courtesy clerks as required, including carry‑outs when necessary. Cash Handling & Office Responsibilities Operate POS systems and process customer transactions accurately. May count tills, assist with cash office functions, and support close‑of‑day procedures. Ensure accurate register operations and adherence to cash-handling standards. Store Standards & Merchandising Support Replenish checkout area merchandise. Maintain safety and sanitation standards throughout the store. Support multiple departments when needed, including light stocking or facing. Qualifications Prior retail or customer service experience preferred. Ability to coach and direct others while maintaining positive working relationships. Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Familiarity with store operations, register functions, and company policies. Strong communication skills and attention to detail. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for long periods and move throughout the store. Lift and carry items as needed (e.g., grocery bags, service items). Perform routine front‑end and operational tasks.
