Join our global client as a Permitting Officer, where you will play a crucial role in supporting the environmental and legal teams within the oil and gas industry. This full-time contract position is based in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, and offers a unique opportunity to contribute to significant projects while ensuring compliance with national regulations and environmental standards.
Role Overview
Maintain the environment team’s permitting schedule. Assist the Permitting Coordinator with documentation preparation and review for authorities. Conduct research on applicable laws, regulations, policies, and guidelines for the legal team. Update permitting registers managed by the legal team daily. Manage safe storage of physical permits, licenses, approvals, and consents. Oversee electronic filing of permits and related documents in information management systems. Assist in preparing and reviewing applications for permits, licenses, approvals, and consents. Monitor the progress of permit applications managed by other teams. Submit regular reports to CEPA and NPA as required. Assist with environmental incident notifications to CEPA and NPA. Manage payment of fees to relevant authorities in collaboration with the Finance Department. Organize meetings with CEPA and NPA, prepare agendas, and document minutes. Liaise with other departments or government entities as necessary.Skills & Qualifications
Permits: Proficient in managing environmental permits and licenses. Legislation & Compliance: Strong understanding of environmental regulations and compliance requirements. Environmental Technical Support: Ability to provide technical support related to environmental matters. Environmental Sciences: Knowledgeable in environmental science principles. Environmental Regulations: In-depth knowledge of relevant environmental regulations.Education & Experience
Degree in Environmental Studies or Law. Previous experience in the Oil and Gas Sector is preferred. Knowledge of the Oil and Gas Act and the Environment Act.Pay & Benefits
