Per Diem Respite Worker
Location: Garden City, NY | Schedule: Full Time, 19 hours per week | Status: Non-Exempt |Salary Range: $20/hour
The Opportunity
Family and Children’s Association (FCA) is seeking a Respite Worker to deliver individual and group respite and rehabilitative services to children diagnosed with a mental health disorder. These hands-on, goal-oriented services are provided in the home or community setting, supporting the child’s progress toward identified objectives while offering temporary relief to caregivers.
Responsibilities
+ Deliver in-person respite services both on-site and in community-based settings to support the development and application of the child’s skills in natural environments.
+ Facilitate hands-on, task-oriented activities tailored to the individual needs and goals of each child.
+ Accurately document each session and related communications through detailed progress notes.
+ Ensure timely submission of all documentation in accordance with funding requirements and the agency’s Compliance Plan.
+ Provide and record services using a strength-based, family-centered approach that promotes empowerment and collaboration.
Qualifications
+ High school diploma or GED.
+ Prior experience working with children with special needs is preferred.
+ Demonstrated knowledge of community resources and support services.
+ Possession of a valid New York State driver’s license.
+ Ability to conduct home visits as required.
+ Proficiency in basic computer applications and documentation systems.
