The People Lead is a critical role responsible for leading and executing the human resources strategy and operations for a gum and candy manufacturing unit in Sub-Saharan Africa. This role will also form a part of the Leadership Team for the Manufacturing Unit.

Based in Matsapha, Eswatini, this role ensures the effective management of end-to-end HR processes, aligning with business objectives and fostering a positive work environment. This role will work closely with business centers of excellence such as Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, Talent Management and People Experience to ensure compliance with local labor laws and company policies that Human Resources Activities align to.

What you need to know about this position:

Responsibilities

HR Strategy & Alignment:

Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the manufacturing unit's goals.Collaborate with Site Plant Management team and Senior Management to understand business needs and provide HR solutions.Lead organizational design projects, including headcount planning and optimization, role clarification, and process optimization.

Talent Acquisition:

Manage the recruitment process, from sourcing to onboarding, ensuring a qualified and diverse workforce.Develop and maintain relationships with Talent Acquisition COE and educational institutions.

Employee Relations:

Serve as a point of contact for employee grievances and disputes, ensuring fair and consistent resolution.Promote a positive and inclusive work environment through effective communication and engagement initiatives.Co-create and Lead the execution of the Site Employee relations strategy

Performance Management:

Oversee the performance management process, including goal setting, performance reviews, and development plans.Identify training needs and develop programs to enhance employee skills and performance.

Compensation & Benefits:

Work with Total Rewards & People Experience COEs to administer compensation and benefits programs, ensuring competitiveness and compliance with local regulations.Support with required information around salary surveys and market research to maintain equitable pay scales.Ensure the delivery of the site wellness agenda in collaboration with Centers of Excellence and HSE.

Training & Development:

Oversee the design and delivery of training programs to support employee development and organizational goals.Coordinate with external training providers to offer specialized courses and workshops.

HR Compliance:

Ensure compliance with all local labor laws and regulations.Work with People Experience COE to Maintain accurate employee records, systems and HR documentation.

Health & Safety:

Collaborate with the health and safety department and Site Leadership team to promote a safe working environment. Including Levers such as Clinic Operations, Transport etc.

HR Metrics & Reporting:

Track and analyze HR metrics, such as turnover rates, absenteeism, and employee engagement.Prepare reports for management, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.

Change Management:

Lead and support organizational change initiatives, ensuring effective communication and minimal disruption.Provide guidance and coaching to managers and employees during periods of change.

Education / Certifications:

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.Post Graduate degree in HR, Employee relations or a related field is an advantage.Minimum of 5-8 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership role.Experience in a manufacturing environment is highly preferred.Proven experience in managing end-to-end HR functions.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in HRIS systems (e.g. Workday).Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
