The People & Culture Program Specialist (Health, Safety & Wellbeing) supports the design and executes the delivery of programs that support employee health, safety, and wellbeing across the United States, where SAP employees over 18,000 employees. This role operationalizes efforts necessary to achieve compliance with local legislation and deliver programs that integrate wellbeing into the overall employee experience, in alignment with SAP’s global health & safety standards. Working closely with the People & Culture Program Expert in Health, Safety, and Wellness, this role executes a health and safety strategy that shape a resilient, safe, and high-performing workplace. This role sits in the Head of People & Culture office for the Americas.

Key Responsibilities

Regulatory Compliance & Risk

Ensure compliance with all relevant US legislation, with support from legal team. Track regulatory changes (with support from the legal team) and where relevant update policies, processes, and training (or support these updates across other functions).

Program Strategy & Delivery

Develop and deliver health, safety, and wellness programs tailored to evolving workforce needs (e.g., hybrid work, psychological safety, mental health, burnout). Align programs with SAP’s People Strategy and Global Health & Safety Management Standard.

Governance & Committees

Provide operational support for the US Health & Safety Council; helping the People & Culture Program Expert run quarterly meetings and drive follow-up actions. Support the set up of state-level joint health and safety committees or policies where required by law.

Communication & Collaboration

Help drive awareness campaigns that foster a culture of wellbeing. Where relevant, facilitate health and safety awareness to employees and managers. Collaborate with functions such as Total Rewards and Facilities to embed inclusive wellbeing into the employee journey. Direct escalations as needed for H&S concerns.

Budget & Vendor Management

Support the operational needs to manage the health & safety budget and oversee vendors for mental health and safety programming.

Required Skills & Attributes

Strong self-starter with a track record of resolving complex issues. Proven in project/program management to lead from concept to delivery. Excellent communicator and data-driven thinker Comfortable shifting between high-level planning and hands-on implementation Comfortable in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple details at once with prioritization to keep topics moving forward.

Preferred Experience & Knowledge (assets, not requirements)

Understanding of US health & safety frameworks and legislation. Experience in HR, employee experience, or workplace operations. Comfortable working across multiple stakeholders and running a council or committee. Familiarity with mental health strategies and inclusive wellness. Budgeting and vendor management experience.

Additional Focus Areas

Collaborate with global teams to align local efforts with global standards. Use data and insights to continuously improve safety and wellbeing outcomes.

Compensation Range Transparency: SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP’s commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is $69,800-$152,300 USD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
