IU Health’s Addiction Treatment and Recovery Center at Bloomington Hospital is seeking a Peer Recovery Coach to provide hope, encouragement, and support to individuals seeking treatment for substance use disorder. If you have personal lived experience with recovery and want to make a meaningful difference, this is your opportunity!Apply today — help others find strength and hope in their recovery!Position Overview:The Peer Recovery Coach supports patients and individuals across Indiana seeking or receiving treatment for substance use disorder. You will collaborate with treatment teams and community entities to develop and implement care plans, follow up with patients, and connect them to resources. Sharing your personal recovery story, you will serve as a positive role model to convey strength and hope.You will participate in the admission process when appropriate, and recommend alternative treatment options if needed. The schedule is flexible, with a typical support window around 8 AM to 1 or 2 PM, including a Wednesday afternoon staffing meeting.Key Responsibilities:Support patients in individual and group settings, providing encouragement and guidance.Collaborate with treatment teams and community organizations to develop comprehensive care plans.Follow up with patients to monitor progress and provide ongoing encouragement.Share personal recovery experiences to motivate and inspire hope.Participate in admission evaluations and recommend appropriate treatment modalities or facilities.Support the overall recovery process by connecting patients with community resources and ongoing support.Qualifications & Requirements:Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.Training: Completed Addiction Peer Recovery Coach training from Indiana Counselors Association on Alcohol and Drug Abuse (ICAADA).Certification: Certification in Peer Recovery Services required within 6 months of hire.Experience:Personal lived experience in long-term recovery from substance use preferred.At least 1 year of experience as a person in long-term recovery preferred.Experience working with academic institutions or medical centers preferred.Skills & Knowledge:Basic proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).Knowledge of applicable state and federal laws related to substance use treatment.Ability to share personal story in a professional, motivating manner.Why IU Health?IU Health provides a supportive environment where peer coaches can make a real difference in the lives of individuals battling substance use disorder.
