Compensation is based on years of experience and ranges from $536K-$747K per year.
Position Summary
The Physician-Peds Cardiac Surgeon Assoc is a board certified/board eligible (or equivalent) surgeon who partners with and supports the senior cardiac surgeon in the Heart Center within Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital & Health Network (MBCHHN). The Physician-Peds Cardiac Surgery reports directly to the Mary Bridge Children’s Executive Medical Director – Heart Center.Principle Accountabilities:
Ensures all elements of care delivery within MBCHHN and MultiCare Health System (MHS) facilities in pediatric and congenital heart center adhere to the highest quality clinical performance standards.
They will partner in the operating room and cover call and cardiac surgery service responsibility in support of the senior cardiac surgeon and Heart Center
Oversees ECMO for the intensive care units within the Children’s Hospital, including appropriate use of protocols, inclusion and transfer criteria, and recommendations for program optimization as related to cardiac services.
Patient Care Responsibilities:
Physician shall evaluate, treat and provide follow-up care to patients as assigned by the Heart Center
Perform cardiac procedures and provide Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) support for the pediatric and congenital heart center and children’s hospital. Participate in the preservation, maintenance, resuscitation, and ex-vivo assessment of pediatric heart and congenital surgery patients. Collaborate with other team members to support the care of all pediatric and congenital heart patients.
Serve as the cardiac surgical director for ECMO in partnership with the other ECMO medical director leadership
Provide cardiac surgical backup to interventional cardiologists, electrophysiologists, and pediatric surgery
Collaborate with pediatric sub-specialists, providing comprehensive care for newborns, children, and adolescents, with a transition into adult congenital cardiac care. Integrate surgical care, education, quality improvement and operations activities in ways that will greatly advance medical and quality of life outcomes, will identify and improve related preventative disease strategies and will greatly enhance patient and family satisfaction and value.
Actively manage pediatric and congenital heart patients in the PICU and NICU, or wherever they might be; Participate in daily rounds on all patients' currently on inpatient services.
Provide education and be a liaison to physicians, nursing, therapists, residents, students, etc. on pediatric and congenital heart.
Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited medical school (MD or DO)
Licensure to practice medicine in Washington State as a Physician
American Board of Thoracic Surgery (ABTS) board certification/eligibility (or equivalent) and Congenital Heart Certification (or equivalent)
Completion of an approved residency in Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery or equivalent
Greater than 3 years’ experience in pediatric and congenital cardiothoracic surgery
DEA, NPI & prescriptive authority
BLS for Healthcare Providers certification by the American Heart Association
