Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Pedestrian Accessibility Specialist to join our team! In this role, you will focus on ensuring universal design principles and pedestrian safety in transportation projects, contributing to the planning, design, and implementation of accessible pedestrian facilities. 

What You'll Be Doing: 

Plan, analyze, and prepare designs for pedestrian facilities, including sidewalks, crosswalks, and accessible paths, using universal design principles, local jurisdiction criteria, and/or AASHTO/DOT criteria, with guidance provided on complex tasks as required. 

Develop models and assessments for pedestrian accessibility features, incorporating tools like AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar software to evaluate safety and usability. 

Approach tasks with an open mindset; propose innovative solutions to accessibility and safety challenges in pedestrian environments. 

Prepare engineering reports, accessibility audits, and contract documents for review, ensuring compliance with ADA standards and pedestrian safety guidelines. 

May assign, track, and review tasks of technicians or designers; apply technical discretion to revisions of work products. 

Potential to serve as the specialist-of-record on assigned pedestrian accessibility tasks. 

Responsible for managing timely completion of multiple assigned tasks related to pedestrian safety and universal design. 

Communicate effectively with team members, internal design groups, and external entities including clients, subconsultants, and relevant government agencies. 

Effectively present proposed accessibility solutions as part of internal project meetings; may attend and contribute to presentations with external parties. 

Adhere to company marketing requirements by providing timely personal resume updates and participating in marketing campaigns. 

Ensure timely completion of time sheets and expense reports. 

Take ownership of personal career development by seeking and providing feedback, seizing opportunities to develop new skills, and setting and pursuing personal goals. 

Contribute to the development of other team members through mentorship and modeling positive behaviors. 

What Required Skills You'll Bring: 

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Urban Planning, or a related field. 

Professional Engineer (PE) or relevant certification in accessibility design (e.g., ADA specialist). 

Minimum 8+ years of experience in pedestrian accessibility and safety, with expertise in universal design principles and pedestrian safety analysis. 

Strong knowledge of accessibility standards (e.g., ADA, PROWAG) and pedestrian facility design guidelines. 

Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, GEOPAK, or Open Roads for modeling pedestrian environments. 

Experience conducting pedestrian safety audits, accessibility assessments, and integrating universal design in transportation projects.
