Who we’re looking for

Toyota’s Stamping Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Planning Engineer.

The primary responsibility of this role is to identify project challenges specific to a new model introduction and develop Stamping PE strategy to achieve project KPIs given those unique challenges.

Reporting to the Planning Engineering Manager, the person in this role will support the Stamping Engineering Department's objective to procure high-quality, low-cost stamping dies to support Toyota’s strategy of building dies in North America as part of global die manufacturing capacity.

What you’ll be doing

Lead and Coordinate Stamping shop input on equipment and tooling investment for new model projects at all NAMC’s.

Develop ringi strategy to secure approval for project spending.

Communicate and negotiate Make vs Buy to ensure the best possible regional line load.

Participate in Master Schedule development and develop QBI plan with stakeholders.

Coordinate strategy for die making R&R between TMC, Die Mfg., and vendors.

Coordinate material strategy for new model development including trial material for goshi phase.

Report status to management w/ proactive risk identification during the planning phase.

Lead project meetings and report outs to stakeholders during planning phase.

Follow project through SOP to confirm and reflect on strategy.

What you bring

Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Engineering or 3 to 5 years of equivalent related work experience.

Project management experience

Experience with project cost estimation planning

Willingness to travel up to 25% to locations other than Kentucky (including international travel)

Ability to work up to 25% overtime to meet business needs

Added bonus if you have

Stamping (die structure/function) experience 

Experience with Toyota Ringi process

Experience with material sourcing as it relates to new model development. 

Experience with communication skills presenting up to senior management and up.

Experience with MES or ERP systems

Experience working with vendors and/or suppliers
