Logistics at full potential
We are looking for a proactive and experienced Payroll & Time Management Manager to lead and continuously improve payroll and time tracking processes for our operations in Germany. This strategic role is responsible for designing and governing efficient, compliant, and user-friendly systems and processes—while the operational execution remains with local teams. The ideal candidate will challenge existing structures, identify optimization opportunities, and implement best-in-class practices tailored to the German regulatory environment. In addition, the role includes leading payroll-related projects and contributing to broader cross-functional initiatives within Germany.
This position requires a structured and strategic thinker who can bring clarity and calmness to a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is highly organized, solution-oriented, and capable of driving topics forward with focus and consistency—even when things get hectic.
What you do in a role of a Payroll & Time Management Manager:
Design, implement, and govern end-to-end payroll and time tracking processes for Germany in compliance with local labor, tax, and social security laws. Provide standardized, efficient, and scalable systems and tools to support local payroll and timekeeping execution. Ensure that local teams have clear guidance, training, and support to carry out payroll and time tracking activities accurately and on time. Review and optimize existing workflows, introducing automation and efficiency improvements. Lead and drive payroll and time management projects, including system implementations, vendor transitions, and process redesigns. Actively contribute to cross-functional and strategic projects at the national level, representing the payroll and time management functions. Monitor legislative changes and ensure all processes remain compliant. Serve as the escalation point for complex payroll and time tracking issues. Support internal and external audits and implement robust internal controls. Provide functional guidance to local payroll/timekeeping contacts across sites (matrix responsibility).
What makes you successful in the role of a Payroll & Time Management Manager:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, HR, Finance, or a related field. Minimum 5 years of experience in payroll and/or time management, with at least 2 years in a leadership or process ownership role. In-depth knowledge of German payroll and time tracking legislation, tax, and social security regulations. Experience with payroll and time tracking systems (e.g., SAP HCM, DATEV, Workday, ATOSS) and strong Excel skills. Proven track record in process improvement and project management. Experience working with collective labor agreements (Tarifverträge) and in collaboration with works councils (Betriebsräte) is a strong advantage. Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Highly organized and structured working style.
Workplace Setting:
Mobile work is possible, but regular on-site presence is expected. Occasional travel within Germany may be required.
