Job details Spherion Fargo has a direct hire opportunity for a Payroll Tax compliance Specialist. The Payroll Tax Compliance Specialist ensures the Company is compliant with all federal and state payroll taxing authorities, establishes controls to verify compliance, and trains payroll staff on regulatory changes.
... M-F, 8am-5pm, Hybrid (in office M,T and Thursday), open to remote candidates outside of the Fargo, ND /Moorhead, MN area.

Responsibilities:
-Ensure compliance with all federal and state payroll regulations
-Provide communication and training of regulatory changes to all appropriate individuals
-Ensures all regulatory reports are filed within established deadlines
-Maintain state tax accounts, including the establishment and closure of tax withholding and unemployment accounts, as needed
-Resolve issues with tax agencies in a timely manner
-Establish controls to verify compliance with regulatory agencies and accuracy of pay statements and ensures tests are performed according to prescribed timelines
-Ensure tax withholdings are received by filing agency and filed on-time
-Audit employee tax withholding information to ensure appropriate state taxes are being withheld
-Assist accounting with reconciliation of payroll tax accounts
-Ensure tax information reported on Form W2 is accurate

Secondary Responsibilities:
-Respond to payroll tax related inquiries and resolves payroll concerns
-Generate ad-hoc reports as needed
-Review processes and recommends improvements as they are identified
-Ensure all processes are properly documented
-Update the payroll project plan for all acquisitions
-Test upgrades to payroll software and inbound and outbound interfaces
-Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor or other designate

Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Skills:
-Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred
-3-5 years' experience within payroll preferred
-Success Factors and ADP experience preferred

Education:
Bachelors

Experience:
1-4 years

Qualifications:
-Ability to build and maintain a positive working relationship with all employees
-Act as a liaison between employees and management, as needed.
-Maintains confidentiality of HR/Payroll information and records
-Excellent communication and strong problem-solving skills
-Ability to effectively plan, organize, and use independent judgment
-Excellent customer service skills include being competent, accurate, responsive, and engaged
