Payroll Specialist (URGENT! Contract - 2+ months)
Job Description
This is an open-ended contract position supporting the payroll team with various tasks. Responsibilities will be determined based on your experience, ideally including reconciliation of benefits billing, reconciliation of hours, processing payroll for 900 employees in Deltek Costpoint Time Collection/Time & Expense, verifying data, and responding to payroll inquiries.
Responsibilities
+ Manage the day-to-day production of cash receipts, deposits, subcontractor accruals, payroll reporting, and leave accruals.
+ Serve as the primary interface for finance and payroll-related matters.
+ Develop desktop procedures and contribute to the improvement of processes, policies, and procedures.
+ Act as a backup for the Treasury and Fixed Asset/Systems Accountants.
+ Audit timesheets to ensure compliance with the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), the contract, and Jefferson Lab Policies and Procedures.
+ Effectively manage the daily entering of cash receipts and deposits, including review and validation of funds received and accounts charged. Ensure cash items are recorded accurately and develop proper journal entries.
+ Support in the production of payroll by monitoring and tracking SubK accruals status, working with the procurement team to ensure completion and accuracy of accruals within the schedule.
+ Audit accruals to ensure compliance with policies and procedures set forth by DOE and JLAB Management.
+ Manage, reconcile, and process all benefit payments and transmissions.
+ Support internal and external audits, including ICE, DCAA, Floor Check, and Worker's Compensation Reporting.
Essential Skills
+ 3+ years of internal payroll processing experience
+ Basic proficiency in Excel, including the use of pre-built VLOOKUPs and pivot tables for data reconciliation
+ Experience with Deltek Costpoint Time Collection/Time & Expense
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree
+ Experience with Cognos reporting
+ Proficiency in creating pivot tables and using VLOOKUPs
Work Environment
The role is fully onsite, operating Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM. While full-time employees may work remotely, non-employees are required to work onsite due to equipment and VPN access limitations.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
