Job Title: Payroll Specialist

Job Description

As a Payroll Specilaist, you will be responsible for processing payroll for multi-state employees while ensuring accuracy and timeliness. You will maintain compliance with all applicable wage and hour laws, including those specific to California, Nevada, and Oregon.

Responsibilities

Process payroll for employees across multiple states, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws specific to California, Nevada, and Oregon.Review and audit payroll data, including timekeeping, earnings, deductions, and taxes.Maintain employee payroll records in HRIS/payroll systems such as UKG Pro and WFM.Administer garnishments, levies, and child support orders.Coordinate payroll tax filings and manage multi-state tax handling.Reconcile payroll before and after processing.Collaborate with HR on hires, terminations, leaves, and pay changes.Ensure timely and compliant final pay processing in all states.Respond to employee payroll inquiries promptly.Support internal and external audits.Assist with year-end processes, including W-2s.Maintain strict confidentiality of payroll data.

Essential Skills

3-5+ years of payroll experience, preferably with high-volume payroll (1,000+ employees).Experience with multi-state payroll, specifically in NV, OR, and CA.Proficiency in payroll processing, payroll tax filings, and compliance.Strong communication and training skills.Excellent judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.Ability to work independently and deliver accurate, timely results.Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple projects.Strategic thinking and project management skills.Strong customer service and problem-solving approach.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).Proficiency in payroll software such as UKG Pro, Kronos, and Microsoft Excel.Experience with Excel pivot tables, reporting, and VLOOKUP.Bilingual skills are a plus.

Work Environment

The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with some Sunday work required. There is flexibility for an earlier start.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fresno, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $43.26 - $50.48/hr.
