Johnson Service Group, a nationally award-winning staffing firm, has an immediate need for a Payroll Specialist for a large construction company in San Diego.
Onsite | Hourly pay rate is $34-$36 per hour based on experience.
Summary: We are seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our team and support payroll operations in a fast-paced environment. This role is responsible for full-cycle payroll processing. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with high-volume payroll, multi-state payroll, and strong knowledge of state and federal wage laws.
Responsibilities Responsible for processing a multi-state weekly payroll for up to 1,000 employees. Ensure compliance with federal and state wage/tax laws, including FLSA, overtime, and meal/rest break regulations. Audit timecards, wage rates, deductions, and benefit rates to ensure accuracy. Maintain accurate payroll records, new hire data, and compensation updates. Address payroll-related inquiries from employees, HR, and management in a professional manner. Generate payroll reports for upper management. Requirements 2-3 years of payroll experience. Proven experience as a payroll specialist with high-volume payroll processing. Strong understanding of federal and state wage/tax laws, FLSA, and prevailing wage regulations. Solid accounting fundamentals and payroll best practices. Proficient in MS Office and payroll/timekeeping software, UKG a plus. Experience working with DIR and LCP Tracker a plus. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and confidentiality. Strong written and verbal communication skills. High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s in Business, Accounting, or related field a plus. #D800
