Payroll Specialist
Description Payroll Specialist Growing, Employee-Friendly Company | Bergen County, NJ My client is a fast-growing and employee-focused organization in Bergen County seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Payroll Specialist to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a supportive environment, values accuracy, and thrives in a fast-paced setting. Key Responsibilities • Process employee changes in Ceridian Dayforce (transfers, promotions, rate changes, address updates, tax withholdings). • Manage and maintain all wage garnishments (child support, tax levies, income executions). • Run and distribute payroll reports (monthly, bi-weekly, weekly) to personnel and union offices. • Audit and maintain accuracy of employee payroll data in Dayforce. • File, scan, and archive payroll documents in line with company retention policies. • Assist with union billing and ensure 401(k) compliance. • Support departmental and external audits. • Troubleshoot and resolve payroll-related issues. • Provide departmental coverage as needed. • Stay current on federal and state wage, hour, and tax laws, as well as collective bargaining agreements. • Contribute to team projects, strategic initiatives, and process improvements. Requirements Qualifications • 2–3 years of relevant payroll experience. • Strong team player with excellent analytical and communication skills. • Proficiency in MS Excel, Outlook, and payroll systems. • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential information. • Knowledge of federal and state regulations and year-end payroll processes. • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Skills • Fluency in Spanish (a plus due to part of our workforce being Spanish-speaking). • Bachelor’s degree or certificate in a related field. • Experience processing payroll in Ceridian Dayforce. • Background working with a unionized employee population. ________________________________________ ✅ Why Join Them?
