Position Summary
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for supporting the accurate and timely execution of payroll processes across assigned regions. This role handles Tier 1 and Tier 2 payroll inquiries, ensures data accuracy, and collaborates with internal HR teams and external vendors to resolve routine payroll issues. The Payroll Specialist plays a key role in maintaining employee trust through responsive service and consistent payroll delivery.

Key Responsibilities
Payroll Processing Support
Assist in preparing and validating payroll inputs such as time and attendance, new hires, terminations, and compensation changes.
Support the execution of regular and off-cycle payroll runs under the guidance of senior team members.
Perform basic reconciliations and audits to ensure data accuracy.
Process benefit-related payroll transactions, including calculations and audits of benefit deductions, ensuring accuracy and completeness before submitting for review by the Benefits Center of Excellence (CoE) or directly to external vendors
Employee Inquiry Management
Serve as the first point of contact for Tier 1 payroll questions (e.g., pay slips, direct deposit, tax forms).
Resolve Tier 2 inquiries related to pay discrepancies, time reporting, and deductions, escalating complex issues as needed.
Vendor Coordination
Communicate with payroll vendors to submit data, track processing status, and resolve routine issues.
Support documentation and follow-up for vendor-related service tickets.
Compliance & Documentation
Ensure payroll documentation is complete, accurate, and audit-ready.
Follow established procedures to maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Process Improvement
Identify recurring issues and suggest improvements to payroll processes and employee communications.
Participate in testing and implementation of system updates or enhancements.

Qualifications
Education: Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in Accounting, HR, or related field.
Experience: Minimum 2–4 years of payroll experience, preferably in a shared services or multi-state environment.
Certifications: FPC certification a plus.
Systems: Familiarity with payroll systems such as Workday, Meta4, Compaq, or Excel.
Skills:
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
Basic Excel skills (e.g., sorting, filtering, formulas).
