A rapidly growing construction and industrial services company operating on 100+ active projects across 10 states is seeking a Payroll Manager to take ownership of payroll operations and bring expertise, structure, and efficiency to the team. With nearly 1,000 employees and continued nationwide expansion, the organization needs a dedicated payroll professional to streamline processes, ensure compliance, and help guide the implementation of a new HRIS system.
This role is opening because payroll has been managed by accounting leadership, and now requires a true payroll manager to handle the growing complexity. This is a highly visible position that will partner closely with leadership and play a direct role in shaping payroll strategy for a high-growth company.

Focus Includes:
Managing weekly payroll for 900+ employees (fluctuating between 800–1000+ as the company continues to grow)
Transitioning from a highly manual process to a streamlined HRIS (system implementation scheduled for January 2026)
Processing and validating timekeeper inputs from the field; handling payroll corrections with a goal of eliminating correction days
Applying job costing knowledge to ensure accuracy beyond system processing
Managing special pay adjustments (e.g., temporary project rate increases, foreman requests)
Handling union payroll and fringe benefits for upcoming requirements
Entering and validating payroll tax obligations and deductions (401k, HSA, etc.)
Partnering with leadership on compliance, process improvements, and system upgrades
Top consideration given to candidates with:
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP required)
Experience with weekly payroll for large employee groups
Strong knowledge of job costing, fringe benefits, and union payroll
Proficiency with payroll compliance: 941s, 940s, W-2s, SUTA/SUI, withholdings, 401k, and HSA deductions
Familiarity with payroll system transitions (Spectrum experience a plus; any payroll/HRIS background accepted)
Proven ability to work independently while collaborating with accounting leadership
Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
