Location: St Andrew’s Square Edinburgh (a mix of office and home working)
Salary: £65,000 - £75,000 base salary (depending on experience) plus 15% of base salary as a benefits allowance plus full benefits listed below.

About the Role
We’re looking for a Payroll Manager with deep technical knowledge and the confidence to lead, assure and govern one of the most sensitive areas in any business, colleague’s pay.

This is a key role in making sure our outsourced payroll services are not just processed, but delivered compliantly, on time and to standard. These services cover all UK-based colleagues as well as UK colleagues working around the globe and our inpats from other countries.

You’ll be able to demonstrate strong payroll service delivery with either an inhouse team or a 3rd party provider. Applying strong payroll controls and validation protocols, you’ll be up to date on the taxation landscape and regulatory and legal requirements. You’ll be the go-to person to support complex queries and bespoke requirements.

Working with two Payroll Analysts, you will deliver day-to-day operations, continuous improvement initiatives and project activity. You’ll be expected to lead and influence both internal and external stakeholders when steering projects, resolving complex issues or working with immovable deadlines.

Some of the key accountabilities of the role include:

Successful delivery of monthly payroll controls Contract management of the 3rd party payroll services provider Technical set up of the payroll software, and ensuring the time management system delivers accurate monthly pay Ensure key annual processes are managed and delivered on time - P60, PSA data, R&D tax relief data, short term visitors tax calculations, HMRC Appendix 4, 5, 7a, 7b & 8 returns Accountable for Company Car Fleet Administration and company car reporting Modified payroll for inpats

Who We’re Looking For
You’ll have significant experience in operating and delivering a large multisite payroll and be fully conversant with HMRC legislation including PAYE, National Insurance, employer-provided benefits, Real Time Information, and statutory payments.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are key attributes within the People Function, and candidates should demonstrate their ability to communicate with colleagues and managers throughout the business.

What you’ll bring

CIPP qualification (or equivalent experience) A strong understanding on current legislation, compliance and technical controls. Hands-on experience managing outsourced payroll and system providers (or in-house equivalent) Clear ability to manage controls, audits, reconciliations and stakeholder needs Strong SAP HR/reporting knowledge and data mindset
