Payroll & HRIS Specialist

Adecco is assisting a location client with a Payroll & HRIS Specialist. The Payroll & HRIS Specialist is responsible for maintaining payroll systems, processing paychecks according to set schedules and amounts, and ensuring appropriate deductions when processing payroll. The Payroll & HRIS Specialist provides administrative support cross-functionally to the Human Resources (HR) department to assist with employee onboarding, benefits administration, compliance, time and attendance, and reporting duties.
**Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:**
•Processes payroll for the organization, maintains business registration accounts, handles wage garnishments, assists employees with general questions, and educates users on HR/payroll systems
•Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to payrates; resolves on-cycle/off-cycle payroll requests
•Books payroll journal entries for each payroll run, including off-cycle payrolls
•Reconciles all payroll-related accounts in the general ledger
•Supports the continuous evaluation and evolution of HR/payroll systems and payroll practices, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws and filing requirements
•Actively identifies and resolves issues or opportunities for enhanced user experience and other payroll or HRIS integrations
•Develops, documents, and maintains all current and new payroll and HRIS business process workflows for efficiency and compliance
•Maintains databases, analyzes data, ensures data integrity, runs queries, and securely stores finance, payroll, and HR-related records
•Responsible for monitoring timesheets for accuracy; follows up with employees and supervisors to ensure necessary documentation, approvals, and signatures are obtained
•Handles direct deposit requests and changes
•Processes all payroll-related reports and submissions for check or direct deposit distribution
•Completes various accounting functions such as reconciling and auditing payroll liability line items, monthly reconciliations, and journal entries
•Assists with quarterly and year-end tax filings and notices, such as Form W-2 distribution and Workers’ Compensation policy audits
•Provides support to HR with new employee onboarding, including account creation, Form I-9 verification, benefit elections, and upholding company policies and procedures
•Performs other projects and job duties, as assigned
**Qualifications:**
• Associate’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field, or equivalent experience
• 2-3 years of experience working in payroll-related job functions; multi-state experience preferred
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite or related software
• Experience with QuickBooks Desktop is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of HRIS and time keeping systems, such as Paycor and Central Reach preferred
• Experience in the healthcare industry or Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy strongly preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
• Ability to adapt to a changing environment
• Ability to work on a team collaboratively and cooperatively
**Physical Demands:** Occasionally- less than 1/3 of the time; Frequently- 1/3-2/3 of the time; Regularly- over 2/3 of the time
• Must be able to regularly assume a variety of repetitive postures (sitting, standing, etc.)
• Must be able to frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis
• Must have manual dexterity sufficient to regularly perform various keyboard functions
• Must be able to regularly give and receive detailed information through oral and written communication
• Must have visual acuity including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
• Must be able to frequently sit at a desk or computer terminal for extended periods of time
• Must be able to occasionally travel to and from different areas served by the organization
• Must be physically present at the assigned work location
**Pay Details:** $65,000.00 to $75,000.00 per year
