Description
Robert Half as a new Direct Hire opportunity for Payroll Director for a good client of ours based in Baltimore, MD. This is a hybrid position requiring a few days on site per week. If interested, please apply directly to this posting or contact Cody Marshall at Robert Half to learn more.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Lead and oversee the end-to-end payroll processing for a few thousand employees across multiple pay groups using UKG software.
+ Manage a small team of Payroll Specialists
+ Ensure all payrolls are processed accurately, timely, and in compliance with applicable laws and internal policies.
+ Serve as the UKG Payroll System expert, including configuration, upgrades, issue resolution, and optimization opportunities.
+ Partner with HR, Finance, IT, and Legal teams to ensure data integrity and alignment across systems and departments.
+ Manage payroll audits, tax filings, year-end reporting, and benefit deductions.
+ Provide strategic direction for payroll operations, identifying and implementing process improvements and automation opportunities.
+ Monitor changes in tax and labor laws; ensure payroll compliance across all relevant jurisdictions.
+ Develop and mentor payroll staff, fostering a high-performance culture and professional development.
+ Own vendor relationships related to payroll and timekeeping systems.
+ Prepare and present payroll-related reports, metrics, and dashboards to senior leadership.
Requirements
• Extensive experience managing full-cycle payroll for large organizations, including multi-state operations.
• Proven expertise in payroll systems such as UKG Pro and UltiPro.
• Strong knowledge of payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements.
• Ability to manage payroll for a few thousand employees
• Demonstrated skill in biweekly payroll processing and system configuration.
• Capacity to lead cross-functional teams and collaborate effectively with HR, IT, and Finance.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience in process improvement.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey complex payroll information clearly.
