About this Opportunity
Girl Guides is looking for a Payroll & Benefits Specialist who is responsible for organization’s payroll, benefits, and employee absenteeism programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for oversight and relationship management with third party service providers for payroll, benefits and pension, ongoing monitoring and implementation of best practices, and provides expertise on all regulatory and contractual obligations relating to payroll and benefits.
In this role you will:
Manage full cycle payroll through ADP Workforce Now comprehensive services.Administer bi-weekly salary and hourly payroll for approximately 200+ staffAudit payroll data entries, employee status changes, etc. to ensure accuracy prior to payroll processing. Ensure compliance with provincial and federal employment and tax regulations. Prepare compensation forecast and budget, reconciliation of payroll and benefit accounts, and analysis of variance from budget Liaise with external auditors as it relates to compensation related accountsAccurately manage our benefits programs (Health, Dental & Pension) enrollments, relevant deductions, changes, and terminations.Conduct benefit plan audits to ensure all enrollments are accurate and that dependent information is correct for each employee. Accurately track employee absences as they relate to sick leave, LTD, WSIB, unpaid leaves and ESA approved leaves. Assist with employee absenteeism programs (sick, LTD, WSIB) accommodations and alternate work arrangements/safe return to work plans. Work with employees, managers and medical professionals, as required, in regards to return-to-work processes and safe return to work strategies. Input and maintaining employee records, including new hires, terminations, salary increases, update taxable benefit amounts, and other status changes. The role may evolve as additional talent modules within ADP are implemented. Generate regular and ad-hoc reports from the HRIS to support decision-making and compliance. Update and maintain procedures, policies, training, and documentation relating to payroll and benefits.Adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, and practices.Liaise with other departments as required.Provide general, ongoing support to members/volunteers, responding to/directing inquiries and consulting with the appropriate groups and individuals to support the mission and vision of GGC.Other duties as assigned.You should apply if you have:
Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation Benefit Designation in either Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) or Group Benefits Associate (GBA) is an asset. Post-secondary education in accounting, business, payroll, human resources, or related field. Minimum five (5) years of full cycle payroll experience with multi-provincial payroll knowledge (including Quebec) utilizing ADP or other similar HRIS systems. Strong understanding of legislative requirements with Employment Standards Act and Pension Benefits Act and other related legislation and/or requirements. Strong communication skills and able to effectively respond and resolve pay, benefits/pension and paid time-off inquiries. Excellent problem solving/judgement skills and high degree of attention to detail. Excellent organizational skills with the capability to perform in a deadline-driven environment while managing multiple priorities. Strong proficiency with HRIS systems including reporting and analytics, working knowledge of ADP is an asset.Strong analytical skills, including advanced excel skills, and ability to support workforce and budget planning.Continuously and proactively identifying improvement needs and making changes that result in better outcomes.Team player and able to work cross functionally with other team members and departments. Demonstrated professionalism when dealing with confidential and sensitive information.Benefits:
