Role Overview

Join a high-performing, supportive payroll team within a leading tax practice. As a Level 1 Payroll Assistant, you’ll gain hands-on experience with a diverse client portfolio, learn from experienced colleagues, and develop your skills in a collaborative environment. This is an ideal opportunity for someone starting their payroll career and eager to learn about payroll processing, compliance, and client service.

 

Key Responsibilities

Assist with the preparation and processing of payrolls for clients, under supervision. Support the team in ensuring payroll returns are complete, accurate, and submitted on time. Help maintain and update employee payroll records. Respond to basic payroll-related queries from clients and employees, escalating complex issues as needed. Assist with payroll reconciliations and the preparation of standard payroll reports. Learn to use payroll software and technology platforms (e.g., Quantum/QPOSS, Excel). Work closely with team members to deliver a high level of client service. Adhere to internal controls and best practices to ensure data accuracy and confidentiality. Stay informed about changes in Irish payroll legislation and Revenue guidelines.

 

Skills & Experience

0–2 years of experience in payroll, finance, or a related field (internships or part-time roles welcome). Interest in developing a career in payroll and tax. Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Outlook; experience with payroll software is a plus. Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work as part of a team and manage multiple tasks. Discretion in handling confidential information.

 

Qualifications

IPASS qualification (or willingness to pursue) is an advantage but not essential.
