Payroll Analyst - Payroll - Full Time - Days
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES The Payroll Analyst reports to the Payroll & Tax Compliance Supervisor and has no direct reports. POSITION SUMMARY This position is responsible for the processing, balancing, and closing of the payrolls. This position is the first in trouble-shooting payroll issues. This role is responsible for payroll system support, working on payroll projects and ensuring all balancing of payrolls are accurate and compliant to federal, state, and local laws. Requires mathematical and analytical skill; attention to detail, the ability to multi-task meeting strict payroll processing deadlines and balancing a challenging workload. Works collaboratively with locations, HR Business Partners, Audit, Finance, Accounts Payable, HRIS, Total Rewards and internal payroll/tax team. ACCOUNTABILITIES *All duties listed below are essential unless noted otherwise* Runs and balances the payroll jobs to ensure timely and accurate payrolls. Required processing of payroll receives, inputs, reviews and balances payroll reports including timely distribution of payroll reports to the field; distributes paper pay and W-2s. Ensures accuracy of bonus processing with compensation department. Communicates differences/resolve with location. Audits time from timekeeping system and assists in preparing off-cycle hand checks, including validating retroactive calculations for processing. Day-to-day decision-making and problem solving related to system interfaces, payroll calculations, providing options, problem solving and general education to staff/location. Coordinates ACH returns: ensures that deductions are interfaced to Accounts Payable for payment. Coordinates archiving; provides payroll input and process changes for union negotiations. Works closely with HRIS/IT as needed to ensure the payroll calculation is accurate and partners for ongoing development and enhancement of payroll system and process flow. Coordinates all uploads are balanced and accurate. Provides backup in absence of Payroll Lead. Responsible for payroll testing during system changes and upgrades. Develops and maintains balancing worksheets to ensure accurate processing of all pay codes and payroll deductions. Responds to employee questions and issues within 24 hours. Provides process improvements and handles change management when necessary. Required to participate in overtime and work a flexible schedule when required to ensure the success of payroll processing. Required to maintain the confidentiality of payroll; think/act logically, maintain respectful behavior and team relationships, remain compliant to payroll/company policy and procedure, and utilize supplies and equipment properly and without waste. Works on special projects/miscellaneous assignment as required (may result in overtime). REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education: Associates Degree or equivalent work experience in business, human resources, payroll, or related field. Skills: Requires excellent analytical, interpersonal/communication and organization skills; Must have working knowledge of personal computers, Microsoft Office Suite, and other office equipment; Must have knowledge/understanding Wage and Hour and payroll tax/state law to ensure accurate payroll processing. Years of Experience: 2 to 4 years of payroll experience. Must have Workday payroll experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor’s Degree Skills: Crystal Reports experience. Years of Experience: 4+ years of payroll experience in a multi FEIN and multi state environment. Certification: CPP or FPC ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE Infor Payroll Processing.
