Payroll Analyst

How you'll make an impact:

Advanced knowledge of payroll principles and experience to ensure accurate and timely processing of bi-weekly payroll in compliance with company policies, labor laws, and tax regulationsProcess complex payroll transactions including earnings, deductions, benefits, and taxes, including the calculation of LOA payments: FMLA, short-long term disability, paid parental leave, and other company sponsored leave policiesReview and validate hours worked, paid time off, and conduct complex payroll audits to ensure accuracy prior to payroll submissionAdvanced ability to validate, generate, and process additional pay data import files (i.e. bonus, gifts, imputed income, etc) ensuring data integrity and adherence to internal processing controlsAdvanced research to troubleshoot and respond to complex payroll related inquiries managed through company Service Now platformIdentify and process historical adjustments and calculating retro-active pay utilizing HR reporting, payroll and time & attendance system(s), and other supporting records to execute adjustments.Timely processing of termination and/or severance payments in accordance with state lawsAdvanced understanding and interpretation of garnishment orders, which include child support, tax levies, and other court-ordered deductions, while effectively communicating with employees and timely set up of deductions and payments to the appropriate agenciesAdvanced knowledge of payroll processes and payroll accounting principles across various tasks ensuring seamless workflow. This includes, but not limited to peer audit review, terminations, LOAs, garnishments, General Ledger, account reconciliations, compliance, policies, procedures, and SOXAdvanced knowledge of Payroll Tax Compliance, 401k and Deferred Comp Plan calculations / deductions, research and resolution to complex audits and treatment of fringe benefits.Collaborate, participate, and drive changes in the spirit of payroll optimization initiatives that will result in continuous improvementAdvanced knowledge of complex payroll issues, including tax adjustment processing, prior quarter amendment process, compliance with SOX controls, audits, reconciliations, and corporate tax reportingOther incidental duties assigned by leadership

What you'll need (required):

Bachelor’s degree in HR, Accounting, Computer Science or related field with 4 years multi-state payroll experience in processing and analysis

What else we look for (preferred):

Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred and/or CPAStrong computer skills, including MS Office Suite, Advance knowledge in ExcelStrong written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal relationship skills, including conveying sensitive information and/or explaining calculationsStrong problem-solving skills, with ability to perform Gross Up Calculations / percentagesStrong knowledge and understanding of payroll applications, ad hoc report writing tools, and accounting and reconciliation platforms (JDE, Blackline, UKG Pro, Workforce Central and/or Workforce Management)Strong understanding of wage and hour and tax laws, processing garnishments and tax levies.Strong knowledge of payroll reporting, reconciliations, documentation for audits and regulatory filingsEffectively prioritize workload, leveraging strong attention to detail and problem-solving skillsAbility to interact professionally with all organizational levels, including internal / external auditorsAbility to manage confidential information with discretionMust be able to work effectively within a team, or inter-departmental team(s) environment

For California, the base pay range for this position is $66,000 to $94,000 (highly experienced). The pay for the successful candidate will depend on various factors (e.g., qualifications, education, prior experience).  Applications will be accepted while this position is posted on our Careers website.
