Job Description:

Payroll Analyst in Canada is responsible for processing and analyzing employee payroll to ensure accurate and timely compensation in accordance with federal and provincial legislation. This includes managing deductions, benefits, remittances, and year-end reporting (e.g., T4s, RL-1s). The role requires a strong understanding of Canadian payroll laws, attention to detail, and proficiency with payroll systems UKG, or Workday. Payroll Analyst will work closely with HR and Finance teams, support audits, and maintain confidential payroll records for compliance and reporting.

Success in this role requires independent thinking, problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to manage large volumes of data. Additionally, the Payroll Analyst II will provide support to the Staff Payroll Analyst and offer guidance to managers and directors on payroll-related actions, policies, and procedures.

What You’ll Be Doing

Payroll Processing: Manage end-to-end payroll for salaried and hourly employees across multiple provinces, ensuring compliance with local laws, including Quebec-specific regulations.  

Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on changes to employment and tax laws, ensuring payroll processes adhere to federal and provincial requirements.  

Data Management: Maintain accurate employee records, including attendance, leave, and overtime, to calculate pay and benefits accurately.  

Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and analyze payroll reports, identify discrepancies, and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.  

Benefits and Deductions Administration: Manage deductions for taxes, pensions, and benefits, ensuring accurate remittances and compliance with relevant legislation.

Year-End Activities: Assist in preparing year-end tax documents, such as T4 slips, and ensure timely filing with appropriate government agencies.  

What We Are Looking For

Typically requires a 4-year degree and 2–4 years of related experience; or equivalent work experience.

Canadian payroll processing required

Experience with UKG and Workday payroll software is required.  

Intermediate Excel skills

Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in processing payroll and managing sensitive employee data. 

Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate payroll information and resolve employee inquiries.

Analytical Thinking: Capability to analyze payroll data, identify trends, and implement improvements.

FPC and/or CPP certification preferred, Canada payroll certification preferred

Experience processing a full in-house payroll

Ability to work in a team environment, fast paced deadline driven team

Positive attitude, adaptable to change, critical thinker essential

Work Arrangement:

Hybrid: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday required office days for Dry Creek/Panorama Office sites; Monday, Friday-work from home.

Annual Hiring Range/Hourly Rate:$31.47 - $38.46

Actual compensation offer to candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level. The pay ratio between base pay and target incentive (if applicable) will be finalized at offer.
