Payroll Administrator
Job Title: Payroll AdministratorJob Description The Payroll Administrator is responsible for maintaining the payroll system, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, handling employee inquiries, and administering timesheets. Responsibilities + Administer the payroll system, including producing payrolls, answering inquiries, correcting anomalies, performing calculations, and data entry. + Balance payroll registers and produce manual cheques. + Generate government and internal department reports. + Maintain employee daily timecards using Ramco & Ceridian. + Reconcile employee benefits on a monthly basis. + Prepare Declaration of Exemption for Employment at a Special Work Site. + Print flight pay details for pilots and aircraft maintenance engineers. + Maintain the payroll remittance file and conduct weekly filing. + Ensure the integrity of the payroll system. + Identify, review, and implement new or changed government regulations. + Administer apprentice paperwork and calculations for the Industry Training Authority. Essential Skills + 3-5 years experience in payroll processing, with testing required. + At least 2 years of experience in multi-layered payroll processing, including hourly, salaried, premiums/per diems, bonuses, and collective agreements. + Experience managing payroll for a headcount of 300-500. + Knowledge of British Columbia payroll and applicable government regulations. + Proficiency in MS Office, including formatting and PivotTables. + Experience with Ceridian software. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with payroll in trades and unionized environments is a strong asset. + Experience with Ceridian/Dayforce and ERP systems. + Certificate or diploma in bookkeeping, payroll, or accounting, or equivalent experience. + Ability and willingness to learn, with strong time management skills. + Results-oriented and able to work effectively under pressure. + Professionalism in communication, both verbally and in writing. + Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Work Environment The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with a 30-minute lunch break. Parking is available on-site, but reliable transportation is required as there is no public transit available. The position is on-site with a potential opportunity for permanent placement closer to nine months. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Abbotsford, BC.
