As an Attorney - Vice President, Assistant General Counsel within the J.P. Morgan Payments legal team, your focus will be on supporting the Merchant Services business. As part of the Commercial & Investment Bank, J.P. Morgan Payments enables organizations of all sizes to execute transactions efficiently and securely, transforming the movement of information, money and assets. Merchant Services is a line of business within J.P. Morgan Payments, and is a global merchant acquirer that provides payment processing services (authorizations, conveyance and settlement of transactions involving credit and debit cards, electronic checks and other payment methods).

Job responsibilities
Drafting and negotiating various agreements Advising on products and services including the support of new product implementations, product change initiatives, and drafting customer-facing terms of service and related documentationNegotiating commercial agreements with J.P. Morgan customers, vendors and suppliers, and third-party strategic partnersAdvising on marketing documents and new business initiativesInterpreting existing laws, rules and regulations and advising on changes theretoCoordinating with Legal Department members in other lines of business on a variety of legal, regulatory and business matters Providing legal advice to the business and corporate functions on a broad range of issuesCollaborating with other functional partners to ensure appropriate awareness and escalation of issues as they arise Participating in cross line of business initiatives/practice groups as a subject matter expertManaging outside counselRequired qualifications, capabilities and skills
J.D. degree and minimum 5 years of experience in a law firm or in-house experience within a financial institution or bankStrong legal and technical drafting skillsTransactional and negotiating experiencePragmatic mindset with the ability to provide concrete, actionable legal adviceProven capacity to assume significant independent responsibility immediatelyComfortable operating in fast-paced, global, and cross-border environmentsStrong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skillsOutstanding organizational and project management abilities, managing multiple complex matters simultaneouslyExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including with senior executives and non-legal professionalsAbility to build and maintain strong client and colleague relationshipsPreferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
