Payments Associate
Our client, a Major Big 5 Bank, is currently looking to hire for a payments associate to join their team in Mississauga, ON! This position is hybrid and would require the candidate to work 1 day a week in office, in Mississauga, ON OR Montreal, QC. ***The ideal candidate would be a new graduate from a university program where they studied economics, finance, business administration, or commerce. Position Title: Payment Associate Working hours: 7am-3:30pm, 8:30am-5pm, 10:15am -6:45pm (rotational) Working Location: Mississauga, ON OR Montreal, QC Hybrid: Once a week in the office This role sits within payment operations, with our clients corporate banking office. This would be supporting payment operations with BAU work and any projects that impact the payment operations team. Day-day: Processing payments. They have web based application where payments come in. Depending on what pool they come in, the candidate will have different action items. Another area of this role is taking calls. They will take 10-20 calls a day. US customers will conduct wire transfers on the phone and they also have to create payments with emails etc. The Payment Associate will fulfill routine and occasionally non-routine transactions, resolve internal business partner and/or external customer inquiries/requests and referring non-routine issues to more sr team members and/or management to action. Also, they will handle audit/reconciliation activities efficiently and effectively in accordance with Bank and industry standards and focusing on up to a one-month time horizon. ADDITIONAL ROLE INFORMATION: • There may be a requirement to periodically work extra hours as dictated by the business. • Will be required to work on statutory holidays and/or follow US holiday schedule as applicable. • The job also involves talking to the Customers on the phones. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to): • Process and/or fulfill transactions, perform audit/ reconciliation activities and/or other activities in accordance with established priorities and deadlines on a timely, accurate and efficient basis. • Resolve discrepancies that include occasional non-routine situations in accordance with standard procedures. • Record and verify data for fulfillment and/or further handling. • Communicate with internal business partners and external customers to respond to standard and occasionally non-standard and/or non-routine inquiries according to guidelines. • Follow-up with other business units to ensure issues are resolved. • Perform administrative tasks such as distributing/ collecting documentation and information to or from other internal departments or institutions, archiving historical documentation, assisting in the preparation of management reports, reconciling activities on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. • Resolve escalated work or issues from more junior staff, as appropriate. Qualifications: 1) Candidates junior in experience with education in business/economics/finance/commerce. 2) Strong communication skills (Verbal & Written) 3) Strong MS Office & Computer Literacy 4) Strong data entry skills EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS: • University/College degree Work Environment Working hours: 7am-3:30pm, 8:30am-5pm, 10:15am -6:45pm (rotational). For first 1 - 3 months it's late shift. They follow US banking schedule. So, the candidate will need to be able to work on Canadian holidays. Once candidate is trained, it's a standard rotation.
