HAT YOU’LL DO
As a Pattern Maker at H&M, you’ll play a key role in shaping our products and collections with the customer always in focus. You’ll be responsible for creating the desired silhouette and ensuring great fit, while driving sustainability and profitability throughout the development process.
You’ll work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where creativity, agility, and continuous improvement are part of everyday life. The role involves developing, updating, and communicating fit and size technical packages based on design goals, customer insights, product type, and timelines.
Key Responsibilities
Develop customer-relevant products using fashion, sales, and competitor insights
Execute fit and size strategies aligned with business goals
Identify and act on improvement opportunities using data and market analysis
Use materials and components sustainably and efficiently
Provide clear technical guidelines to production (e.g. fit instructions, grading charts)
Ensure diversity in fit and consistency in sizing across the assortment
Lead fittings, determine adjustments, and communicate changes
Optimize garment construction, material usage, and product profitability
Collaborate with production and suppliers to ensure timely deliveries
Support decisions on size range and consumption during development and quotation
Mentor junior pattern makers and foster a culture of learning
QualificationsWHO YOU ARE
We are looking for people with…
A 3-year formal education in pattern making or equivalent, and at least 3 years of work experience in pattern making.
A customer-centric mindset with a clear understanding of the target customer.
Strong skills in balancing creative design with technical rules to achieve desired products.
Expertise in developing and securing fit for a variety of product types across all sizes.
Knowledge of sewing techniques, finishes, technical solutions, and material characteristics.
Proficiency in body shapes, grading, and the ready-to-wear process.
Understanding of production processes and garment construction.
Ability to handle relevant tools and systems proficiently.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
A self-motivated attitude with a commitment to learning and improving ways of working.
