Job Description

Location: Onsite at 7900 Fannin St # 4000, Houston, TX 77054

The Patient Services Representative greets, instructs and directs patients/visitors. Checks patients in/out efficiently and smoothly in a professional manner. Provides excellent customer service to both patients and office personnel. 

Essential Job Duties:

Greet patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous and helpful mannerCheck in patients; verifies all demographic and insurance information with patients at time of check-in and update patient accounts if neededAssist new patients in completing all necessary paperworkCollect all patient insurance informationDirect patients to PFS to update new insurance charges or to make financial agreementsCommunicate with clinical staff regarding patient scheduling (i.e. late arrivals, canceled appointments, etc.)Collect any co-pays, co-insurance, or patient balances indicated by the PFS on alert notes or as indicated on the patient account recordSchedule patients return appointmentsParticipate when necessary with other staff members to seek account resolutionBatch and balance all monies and transactions entered in the system dailyCompletes all daily activity reports at the end of the scheduled shiftParticipates in educational and developmental activitiesMaintain patient flowFollow HIPAA guidelinesOther duties as required

Qualifications2+ years of experience in a clinical settingHigh School Graduate or GEDExceptional verbal and written communication skillsExcellent customer service orientation and phone skillsAbility to manage multiple projects and competing priorities in a fast-paced environmentExceptional organizational skills

Physical Demands

Work may require sitting for long periods of time; also stooping, bending and stretching for files and supplies; occasionally lifting files or paper weighing up to 30 pounds; requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, operate a telephone, copier and such other office equipment as necessary; vision must be correctable to 20/20 and hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts; it is necessary to view and type on computer screens for long periods and to work in an environment which is very stressful.
