POSITION TITLE: Patient Service Representative
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Patient Service Representative erforms all required patient registration procedures. Assists in the organization of patient flow within the service area. Ensures that all ordered testing and pre-admission processes are completed as ordered. May perform specific procedures including, but not limited to, phlebotomy and electrocardiograms.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
High school graduate or equivalent. General knowledge of keyboard and data entry processes as well as basic terminology relating to computers. Phlebotomy and EKG experience required.
Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise. Completes population specific competency annually on populations served as identified in scope of care and service.
SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Excellent communication and customer relation skills. Must be able to type and demonstrate basic computer skills.
Current BLS/CPR certification and First Aid training.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS:
Clinical setting. Exposure Class I – routine or potential exposure to blood, body fluids, excretions or secretions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Light work: able to push, pull, lift, stand and walk.
WORK CONTACT GROUP:
All services, employees, medical staff, patients, visitors, vendors, various regulatory and professional agencies.
