Patient Service Rep

Sentara Health is currently seeking a Patient Services Representative in the Emergency Department at our Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia. 

Hours/Shift: 10am-10pm, 3 shifts per week

Position Overview:

As a Patient Services Rep with Sentara, you will assist and interacts with patients and visitors to provide information in response to inquiries about services. You will find that teamwork is exceptional, with everyone working together to ensure the best care for our patients. Primarily stationed in the Emergency Department (ED) Waiting Room assisting patients and visitors on arrival to the ED. Prepares and directs patients to ambulatory triage locations. Explains and reinforces ED processes and procedures for patients and visitors in the waiting room. Provides excellent customer service and functions as a liaison to the clinical team. Performs rounding on patients in the waiting room offering basic comfort measures.

Job Duties include but not limited to:

-wheelchair storage and availability

- assisting with patient out-going phone calls

- facilitates cab requests and bus passes

- rounds in the waiting room clinical space identifying needs and escalating requests for trash removal, bathroom cleaning, vestibule cleaning, and other maintenance and environmental services related issues

- ensures interpreter kiosks are available and charging

- ensures other clinical equipment is available and charging

- monitor waiting room occupancy and escalates seating concerns to triage nurse

- assists with questions for patients returning to request medical records, discharge paperwork, work notes, and other documentation knowing the proper process to address concerns and remedy the situation

- assists with accessing the family consult room

- assists with patient belongings/lost and found

- assist with patient call-backs, troubleshooting

- respond to requests for active dialogue with patients and families on ED processed and planning

- assists with customer service rounds

- other duties as assigned to assist with department readiness, stocking, equipment organization, room readiness, etc.

Education Required:

High School Diploma

Experience Required:

One year of experience in each:

Administrative

Clerical

Customer Service

Medical Terminology.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay rate for Full Time employment is:$16.92 - $25.38. Additional compensation may be available for this role such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
