What Patient Scheduler contributes to Cardinal Health
Practice Operations Management oversees the business and administrative operations of a medical practice.
Patient Schedulers are responsible for booking and managing appointments for patients at a clinic, ensuring they see the right doctor at the appropriate time by coordinating schedules and minimizing wait times.
Responsibilities
Schedule a high volume of imaging appointments daily, ensuring procedures are booked accurately based on modality, urgency, and protocol requirements.Provide patients with clear, exam-specific preparation instructions and answer questions related to their appointments.Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary referrals prior to scheduled exams.Review incoming orders for completeness and follow up with referring providers for clarification or additional documentation as needed.Coordinate with technologists and radiologists to confirm availability and ensure proper time allotments are made for each procedure.Enter all appointment information accurately into the EHR and/or radiology information system (RIS/PACS).Monitor and manage the daily schedule to accommodate add-ons, cancellations, reschedules, and STAT requests.Maintain high levels of professionalism and customer service when communicating with patients, providers, and internal staff.Ensure compliance with departmental procedures, privacy laws, and regulatory requirements.Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.At least 1 year of experience in healthcare scheduling, preferably within radiology or a high-volume medical office preferred.Experience working in a fast-paced environment or high-throughput clinical setting strongly preferred.Familiarity with radiology terminology, procedures, and insurance authorization processes preferred.Anticipated hourly range: $21.00 per hour - $25.30 per hour
