Position: Patient Safety Assistant 

$17/Hourly Rate

Shifts: Full Time, Part Time and Contingent - 8 HOUR SHIFTS!

·         Days: 7:00AM-3:30PM

·         Afternoons: 3:00PM-11:30PM

·         Midnights: 11:00PM-7:30AM

·         Every other weekend required.

Location: Wyandotte Hospital 2333 Biddle Avenue Wyandotte, Michigan 48192

 

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Patient Safety Assistant (PSA) will provide a safe environment for the patient under the direction of the Registered Nurse. Tasks include patient observation, assisting with feeding, bathing, toileting, ambulating, engaging in activities that the patient enjoys i.e. reading, playing cards, etc., and companionship. The PSA will maintain a commitment to the philosophy, mission, and values of the Henry Ford Health System (HFHS). The PSA working the monitor will recognize and report any changes observed to the RN per protocol.

Overall Responsibilities:

·         Supports patient safety and comfort under the supervision of a Registered Nurse

·         Keeps a close watch on the patient’s condition and promptly reports changes

·         Assists with daily care tasks such as hygiene, meals, mobility, and restroom needs

·         Provides companionship and engages patients in meaningful pastimes (e.g., reading or card games)

·         Promotes a calm, secure environment tailored to the patient’s needs

·         Upholds the values and mission of Henry Ford Health

·         For monitor roles, stays alert to patient behavior and communicates observations according to guidelines

 

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

·         High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

·         Successful completion of BLS Heartsaver during orientation.
