Patient Registration
Description We are looking for a dedicated and trustworthy Patient Registration specialist to join our team in Allegan, Michigan. In this long-term contract role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the smooth registration and admission process for patients in a healthcare setting. This position requires exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a commitment to delivering excellent service to patients and their families. This is a 12-hour shift, 3 days a week 3rd shift- 6:30pm-7:00am. 100% onsite. Approximately a 6-month assignment. Responsibilities: • Accurately register patients admitted to the emergency department, inpatient, or outpatient services. • Enter patient demographic and financial information into the hospital’s database with precision. • Verify insurance coverage and eligibility to ensure proper billing and financial clearance. • Collect co-pays and other payments from patients at the time of registration. • Conduct interviews with patients or their families to gather essential registration details. • Prepare, process, and manage registration forms, admissions paperwork, and related documents. • Provide clerical and administrative support to ensure smooth departmental operations. • Assist patients in navigating hospital areas, including escorting them when needed. • Track bed availability in the emergency department and coordinate accordingly. • Facilitate patient transfers or discharges, ensuring all procedures are completed efficiently. Requirements • Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally and compassionately with patients and families. • Proficiency in data entry, ensuring accuracy in patient information. • Familiarity with medical terminology and insurance verification processes. • Ability to remain calm and perform effectively in a fast-paced or high-pressure environment. • Demonstrated teamwork skills to collaborate with healthcare staff and other departments. • Basic math skills for handling financial transactions and payments. • High school diploma or equivalent is required. • Minimum of two years of experience in patient registration or a related medical setting preferred.
