Location: Mercy Medical Center, Springfield, MA
Organization: Trinity Health Of New England
Schedule: Full-Time | 36 Hours | Day Shift | 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM | Every other weekend & holiday required

💼 About the Role

Mercy Medical Center is seeking a vigilant and compassionate Patient Observer to join our Emergency Department team. In this critical role, you will provide continuous bedside observation and ensure the safety and comfort of patients with a variety of medical conditions.

🩺 Key Responsibilities

Maintain constant visual observation of assigned patients to ensure safety and well-being.

Accurately document and report patient behaviors, conditions, and any changes to the care team.

Assist with patient comfort needs and support a healing environment.

Greet and interact with patients, families, and visitors in a respectful and empathetic manner.

Communicate clearly and advocate for patient needs.

Support the Emergency Department with tasks such as cleaning, stocking, and patient transport.

Perform additional duties as assigned by the Nurse Manager.

✅ Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.

CPR/BLS certification required (American Heart Association accepted; American Red Cross preferred).

Completion of Assault Reduction Training required.

Ability to pass background checks and drug screenings.

Prior experience in patient observation or healthcare setting preferred.
