The Behavioral Health Center at Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital provides both inpatient and outpatient services for children, adolescents, adults and seniors. Caregivers help patients back to the path of hope, happiness and a better quality of life through the center's treatment services, counseling, classes and screenings. As a Patient Companion on the team, you will provide compassionate and top-quality care. In this role, you will assist RNs, physicians, dietitians and other staff in coordinating and fulfilling treatment plans. You will also find a culture that encourages professional growth, educational development and career success. **A caregiver in this position works nights from 6:45PM - 7:15AM, with rotating weekend requirements.** A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Assist with direct and indirect patient care for one to two patients, such as rooming, vital signs, weight and pulse oximetry. If assigned to a closed unit, you will observe three to four patients. + Assure patient safety by ensuring that catheters, tubes or other medical equipment have not been removed or disconnected. + Accompany and assist patients at all times, including transports, tests, transfers and ambulation. + Collect patient specimens for laboratory testing. + Identify and report changes in patient status to an RN or physician. + Complete all documentation and provide hand-off communication to caregivers responsible for the patient. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + High School Diploma or GED + Completion of a hospital-based patient companion training program OR equivalent experience OR enrollment at an accredited school of nursing and completion of a nursing fundamentals course or completion of a hospital-based NA/PC orientation Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Heartsaver level of Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
