Patient Care Technician
Job Summary

Responsible for providing nursing care to patients under the supervision and direction of a registered nurse.Perform routine direct patient care activities following established policies and procedures in a manner conducive to the safety and comfort of the patient.Perform observations of patients and reports changes in patient condition to the registered nurse.Perform specific skills including phlebotomy and point of care testing (POCT).Assist in all aspects of daily living activities for the patients, including, but not limited to general hygiene of the patient, changings, light housekeeping, and patient vitals.

Qualifications

Education Requirements

High School Diploma or GEDMust be at least 18 years of age.

Experience

Prior direct patient care experience preferred, but not required for employment.

Certification and Licensure

BLS Certification

2 South - Med-Surg/Telemetry Unit:

Located on the second floor of the South Tower building. This is a 30-bed unit with capabilities for telemetry cardiac monitoring. The most frequent diagnoses for the medical patients are cardiovascular conditions, respiratory conditions, diabetes, and infectious processes. The surgical patients represent a variety of specialties including, but not limited to general surgery, GYN, ENT and urology surgeries. Cardiovascular intervention/procedural patients (post cardiac catheterization, stent, and cardiac device placement) are often placed on this unit.
