As a Patient Care Nursing Assistant on the team, you play an integral role in ensuring patients continue receiving the best treatment possible. Each day, you have numerous opportunities to make a difference in your community. **A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. with every other weekend and 3 holidays per year requirements.** A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Prepare units, patient rooms and patient beds for admission, returning surgical patients, transfers or emergencies. + Provide and document assigned care (e.g., bathing, changing and/or refreshing of bed linens, dressing/undressing of patient, back rubs, etc.) and other general care throughout the day to ensure physical comfort. + Collect and document temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, weight, height and intake/output in an accurate and precise manner. + Assist with pre- and post-operative care, such as turning and positioning patients, applying/utilizing special equipment and ambulating the patient as directed in a safe, prescribed manner. + Perform treatment procedures (e.g., venous blood draws, enemas, application of ice packs and heat, non-sterile compresses, skin preps, setting up oxygen equipment, bed scale weights, sets-up overhead trapeze and Buck's traction, removal of urinary Foley Catheters and other therapeutic measures). + Perform hourly safety rounds, anticipate patient needs and respond to patient call lights promptly. + Prepare patients for meals, assist in feeding patients if necessary and distribute water and other nourishments according to patient needs in compliance with physician orders. + Collect, properly label and transport specimens to proper area. + Assist in keeping patient rooms in order, report equipment that is out of order, clean equipment and inventory and distribute unit linen and supplies. + Report any changes observed in the condition or behavior of patient. + Complete ongoing competency requirements, education programs and mandatory training to maintain certification and/or licensure. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + High School Diploma or GED + Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within new hire period + Job or educational experience providing basic computer knowledge and skills + Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) Certification + One year of recent acute care experience **Physical Requirements:** + Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking. + Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. + Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work. **Personal Protective Equipment:** + Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required **Pay Range** Salaries [which may be] shown on independent job search websites reflect various market averages and do not represent information obtained directly from The Cleveland Clinic.
