Patient Access Supervisor
Patient Access Supervisor (Second Shift, 11:00 AM–8:00 PM) — Emergency Department Schedule: Second shift 11:00 AM–8:00 PM; on‑call every 4th weekend (rotation includes North Infirmary) Experience: ED experience highly preferred | Intermediate level Team size: 15 direct reports About the role We’re looking for a hands‑on Patient Access Supervisor to lead a high‑volume Emergency Department access team. You’ll coach and develop new and tenured staff, ensure smooth registration and financial clearance workflows, and jump in on escalations to keep patient experience seamless. Our ED has 24 beds and sees ~100 patients per day, so you’ll thrive if you enjoy fast pace, teamwork, and problem‑solving. What You’ll Do + Lead & develop a patient access team of 15: mentoring, daily support, training, and performance feedback. + Own escalations and help staff resolve complex registration, authorization, and coverage issues with exceptional customer service. + Oversee operations across Registration Process areas: Admitting, Centralized Scheduling, ED, and on/off‑site clinics; ensure policies and work rules are followed. + Monitor metrics and complete daily/weekly performance reports (e.g., financial clearance), plus special projects as assigned. + Jump in as needed to perform all Patient Access functions to keep throughput on track. + Partner with leadership to hit operational goals and contribute to short‑ and long‑range planning. What you’ll bring + Customer service excellence in a healthcare setting, with calm, clear communication under pressure. + Hands‑on experience with Epic and familiarity with EMR/EHR workflows. + Proven supervisory capabilities: interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, performance appraisal, reward/discipline, and issue resolution. + Strength in process adherence, metrics, and continuous improvement across registration/clearance operations.
