Patient Access Representatives deliver what matters most to our patients and their families, ensure exceptional experiences and thrive on making positive impacts in the community. As a Patient Access Representative, you will pre-register and greet patients, verify information and collect copays for diagnostic services and pre-register patients for outpatient services.  

 

A caregiver in this position works Monday-Friday from 6:30AM – 3:00PM, with rotating half-days on every 3rd Saturday. 

 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

Perform registrations by completing an accurate face to face interview to obtain demographic, insurance, medical and financial information. 

Perform preregistration for diagnostic testing and surgeries by contacting the patient and completing an accurate interview to obtain demographic, insurance, medical and financial information. 

Schedule services and provide physician office/patient accurate date and time information, realizing room availability, physician availability, typical time needed to completion of procedure and procedures that conflict with each other.  

Complete procedure specific questionnaires as needed to assist clinical departments to prepare for patients. 

Review eligibility response to assess patient's benefit level, prepare estimates, advise patients of out-of-pocket expenses and collect payment.  

Utilize screening tool for self-pay patients to determine any possible payer source. 

Refer patients to Financial Counselors in accordance with established policies and procedures. 

Advise patients of and generate Advanced Beneficiary Notice (ABN) and/or Assumption of Financial Responsibility (AFR) form as appropriate. 

Obtain, scan and index physician orders 

Crosstrain to staff all areas of Patient Access 

Act as a resource for training of new team members and during implementation of new processes. 

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

High school diploma or GED 

One year of customer service work experience OR higher education and training 

Proficiency in data entry 

Knowledge of medical terminology  

Competency with computer software, practice management systems and windows applications 

 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

One year of hospital, clerical or billing work experience

Physical Requirements:

Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information. 

Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.  

Ability to work with physical records or operate a computer or other office equipment.  

In some locations, ability to travel throughout the hospital system.  

In some locations ability to move up to 25 lbs.
