Patient Access Representatives deliver what matters most to our patients and their families, ensure exceptional experiences and thrive on making positive impacts in the community. As a Patient Access Representative, you will pre-register and greet patients in the Emergency Department, verify information and collect copays for diagnostic services and pre-register patients for outpatient services. Your role is essential to ensuring a seamless model of access for patients, physicians and family members and setting the tone for how their visit to the Emergency Department goes.
**A caregiver in this position works Monday-Friday from 7:00AM - 4:30PM and every 3** **rd** **weekend from 3:00PM - 11:00PM.**
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
+ Perform registration and complete an accurate face-to-face interview to obtain demographic, insurance, medical and financial information.
+ Crosstrain to staff all areas of patient access, such as front desk, admitting office, ED and cash register.
+ Function as a Super User and act as a resource for training of new caregivers.
+ Provide registration and cash collection access in Epic.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ High School Diploma or GED and two years of experience in a customer facing role with in-person or phone contact
+ **OR** an Associate's Degree and one year of experience
+ **OR** a Bachelor's Degree
+ Knowledge of medical terminology sufficient to understand physician orders OR completion of course within one year
+ Basic PC software application knowledge and ability to use multiple data systems
**Physical Requirements:**
+ Dexterity sufficient to operate a PC and other office equipment.
+ Requires extended periods of standing, walking or sitting.
+ Good visual acuity through normal or corrected vision.
+ Must be able to navigate various locations and function in a fast-paced, hectic environment.
+ Ability to lift and transport up to 25 pounds.
**Personal Protective Equipment:**
+ Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
**Pay Range**
Minimum hourly: $15.75
Maximum hourly: $21.65
