As a Patient Access Coordinator, you will organize the activities and workflow of the Patient Access area. This role will allow you to create a foundation in healthcare and explore opportunities at Cleveland Clinic. Your fellow caregivers will encourage you in enhancing your customer service skills and finding your place within the organization.   

 

A caregiver in this position works day/evening/night/weekend, 7:00am—7:00pm. 

 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

Organize and coordinate the activities and flow of work for the patient access area.  

Assign tasks and monitor performance of and assist in training patient service representative.  

Screen candidates, recommend hires, conduct performance appraisals and recommend corrective counseling.  

Develop, implement and oversee programs to improve appointment utilization such as, reminder, follow-up on no-show/cancellation program.  

Coordinate activities and resolve operational problems.  

Adjust employees, patients and physicians' schedules to respond to operational problems.  

Control and audit the reconciliation of day sheets including adjusting statistics in the computer data bank.  

Produce reports as needed. 

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

High School Diploma or GED 

Two years of Cleveland Clinic outpatient scheduling experience or equivalent, including interacting with patients, physicians, and other departments on a problem resolution basis  

OR three years of external outpatient scheduling experience, including resolving patient scheduling and the coordination of the work of others  

OR Associate Degree and one year of experience  

OR Bachelor's Degree

Physical Requirements:

Requires frequent data entry, sitting, standing and walking. Normal or corrected vision, hearing and speech. Occasional lifting or pushing up to 25 pounds.

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
