We are seeking an experienced and motivated Pathology Team Lead to oversee daily operations and drive excellence within our state-of-the-art pathology laboratory. This leadership role is responsible for maximizing team performance, ensuring quality standards, and fostering a collaborative work environment among Histotechnicians and Laboratory Assistants.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead and support a team of Histotechnicians and Laboratory Assistants to ensure efficiency, productivity, and teamworkProvide daily supervision, communication, and direction aligned with organizational goalsAttend and contribute to monthly and quarterly leadership meetingsFacilitate regular team meetings to promote alignment and engagementCreate and manage staff schedules, approve PTO requests, and ensure adequate coverageOversee timesheet management and payroll approvalsDeliver weekly updates on team performance, attendance, overtime, specimen volume, and staffing needsParticipate in hiring, onboarding, and training of new team membersConduct 90-day and annual performance reviews; administer disciplinary actions as neededTechnical DutiesAccession, gross, measure, ink, and cut tissue specimens; enter data into the LISProcess, embed, and section tissue samples using a microtomePerform H&E staining, immunohistochemistry, and special stains as requiredMaintain and troubleshoot lab equipment; perform daily maintenance and solution changesFile tissue blocks and slides; ensure accurate documentation and workflow efficiencyCollaborate with dermatopathologists to resolve issues and maintain high-quality standardsQualificationsAssociate’s degree in a science-related field required; Bachelor’s degree preferredCompletion of a histology training program and ASCP certification requiredMinimum of 1 year of dermatopathology experience preferredStrong leadership, communication, and organizational skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced lab environmentWork Environment
This role is based in a modern, high-volume pathology lab. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM, with occasional weekend overtime as the lab continues to grow.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $42.00/hr.
