Provide technical and logistical support to preclinical studies in the pathology phase. Assist with planning and execution of pathology tasks, including necropsy and histology phases. Coordinate both internally and externally executed pathology phases and manage materials generated during medical device testing.
ResponsibilitiesCoordinate necropsies and tissue collection logistics with the Pathologist and the Preclinical Research team.Conduct or assist with animal necropsies, including setup and associated routine procedures.Record data obtained in studies according to established procedures, ensuring proper maintenance of records and raw data.Prepare identifying labels, photograph gross specimens, and manage collected tissue specimens.Operate laboratory equipment (e.g., Faxitron, cassette printers, microscopes) ensuring proper operation and maintenance.Request cost estimates from external vendors for histology processing and pathology evaluations, submit for Purchase Order generation, and assist with finalizing invoices.Conduct inventory of pathology materials and coordinate shipment.Prepare datasheets and forms, including necropsy records, trim records, and chain of custody forms.Conduct quality control of procedures performed, including review of raw data and preparation of study materials for archiving.Maintain the necropsy room and lab areas clean and organized, and inventory laboratory supplies and equipment.Assist with review of SOPs in pathology processes and related equipment.Assist with preparation of study protocols and pathology reports.Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.Follow all guidelines related to health, safety, and environmental practices.
Essential SkillsClinical research and pathology experience.Broad experience working with pathologists (not focused on histology).Knowledge and experience with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).Associate degree required.Experience working with large animals, preferably in a pathology lab.Ability to understand and precisely follow Standard Operating Procedures.Meticulous eye for detail to spot and correct discrepancies.Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently or as part of a team.Basic computer proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Biology, Zoology, Animal Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related STEM field preferred.Experience as a prosector.Experience working with large and/or small animal species.Experience in compliance and knowledge of GLP regulated environment.
Work Environment
Onsite work is required five days a week. Candidates will be exposed to animal necropsy procedures.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
