Pathology Lab Assistant (Medical Lab), Surgical Pathology
Responsible for processing samples for Laboratory analysis, verifying test completion in the Laboratory computer system, and providing laboratory processing support to Surgical Pathology. + Distributes microscopic slides and reports + Prepares tissue samples for routine microscopic analysis and stains tissue for Routine, Special Stains, and Immunofluorescence, as requested. + Maintains and operates laboratory equipment according to manufacturer recommendations and procedures. + Demonstrates advanced problem solving/troubleshooting skills. + Maintains a positive and professional work environment. + Performs laboratory test procedure. Position Compensation Range: $18.37 - $28.47 Hourly **MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS** **Education:** Associate's degree in related sciences **OR** completion of an accredited Medical Lab Assistant Career Study Certificate (MLA CSC) or certified MLA(ASCP) program required. **Experience:** 2 years relevant experience required with either an Associate’s degree or one of the following: MLA CSC, certified MLA(ASCP) or PBT(ASCP) certifications; 5 years relevant experience required in lieu of degree or certification program. **Licensure:** None required. **PHYSICAL DEMANDS** Job requires sitting, standing for prolonged periods, frequently walking, bending/stooping and reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive); Repetitive motion: computer use. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs.
