SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of a Pathologist and reporting to the Anatomical Pathology Manager, independently performs a variety of tasks related to grossing and processing surgical pathology biopsy and simple specimens.
EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Must qualify as high complexity testing personnel under CLIA.
A minimum of an associate’s degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology; bachelor’s degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Knowledge of the basic sciences, especially anatomy, and knowledge of surgical pathology and medical terminology.
SKILLSMust possess excellent dissection technical skills. Must be proficient in the use of laboratory and surgical instruments and equipment. Demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail and ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with pathologists/physicians, management, and coworkers.
