Pastry Cook - Hilton San Diego Bayfront

The newly renovated Hilton San Diego Bayfront is searching for a Pastry Cook to join their team. Located along the San Diego Bay, this beautiful property boasts 1190 guest rooms, 170,000 square feet of event space, and 8 food and beverage outlets. Bring your culinary knowledge to this dynamic hotel and team.

 

The ideal candidate will possess:

A minimum of 2 years professional experience as a pastry cook or baker

High Volume banquets or pastry commisary production experience 

Working knowledge of the production bread, proofing, fillings, frostings, cakes, mousses, and batters

Working knowledge of high volume production baking equipment including but not limited to commercial ovens, large scale mixers, scales, robot coupes, etc

Ability to read and follow standardized recipes

Strong piping skills and the ability to finish and decorate pastries

Hotel experience highly preferred

Open availability with the ability to work mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays

 

Schedule: Varies. Shifts are typically mid to swing shift. Must be open to work any day or shift as required by business and department. This includes days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Pay Rate: $30.13

A Pastry Cook is responsible for creating, preparing, producing and baking all pastries, breads, rolls and desserts for food and beverage outlets in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability.

 

What will I be doing?

As a Pastry Cook, you would be responsible for creating, preparing, producing and baking all pastries, breads, rolls and desserts for food and beverage outlets in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability. Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

Prepare pastry food items according to designated recipes and quality standards

Maintain cleanliness and comply with food sanitation standards

Stock, maintain and ensure proper storage and refrigeration of an adequate supply of all prepared product

Develop new products for a-la-carte and catering menus, as needed

Practice correct food handling and food storage procedures according to federal, state, local and company regulations

Display and set baked products on mobile carts according to specifications

Prepare daily requisitions for supplies and food items
