Job Description

We are seeking a talented and passionate Pastry Chef to join our culinary team in Avani Gaborone Resort & Casino,Botswana. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for creating delectable desserts and pastries that delight our guests and elevate their dining experience.

Develop and execute innovative dessert menus, including cakes, pastries, and other sweet treatsPrepare a wide variety of baked goods, desserts, and pastries for all food outlets in the establishmentEnsure the highest standards of food quality, taste, and presentationManage inventory, order supplies, and maintain proper storage of ingredientsCollaborate with the Executive Chef and other kitchen staff to create cohesive menusTrain and supervise junior pastry staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environmentMaintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all food safety and sanitation regulationsMonitor and control food costs while minimizing wasteStay current with pastry trends and techniques, continuously improving your skills and knowledgeParticipate in menu planning and development of new dessert conceptsEnsure timely preparation and delivery of pastry items for various services and events

QualificationsProven experience as a Pastry Chef, preferably in a 4/5 star hotel or fine dining establishmentStrong knowledge of baking and pastry techniques, with a creative flair for dessert design and presentationExcellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environmentDemonstrated leadership abilities and experience in training junior staffStrong attention to detail and commitment to qualityProficiency in food safety and sanitation practicesAbility to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidaysExcellent verbal and written communication skills in EnglishPositive attitude, self-motivation, and enthusiasm for the culinary artsCollaborative team player with the ability to work effectively in a diverse kitchen environmentAdaptability to changing menus, seasonal ingredients, and customer preferencesGoal-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation in pastry creation
